I was invited along to a gathering of what I was told would be an night of interesting people and music in 18th century barn. The thought of dragging myself out into a cold and bleak December night from Dorset was not that appealing, but thank heavens I went! Driving down quiet country lanes Cocklebarrow Barn suddenly appeared an oasis of warmth and light. Walking into the courtyard one is met by glorious festoon lights that guid you to the barns epic oak doors, ether side of wich are flanked by the vast stone barn walls with lighting casting shadows that show the impressive scale of the barn. As you enter the barn it only gets better, warm floor lighting made me forget the gloom of my earlier misgivings. And it was clear that I was not alone in my delight, voices, laughter, music and a fantastic band was a night to remember. It's hard to imagine what couldn't be done here with the space and light and the courtyard. My only regret is that I haven't seen the barn in daylight, my mind couldn't stop thinking of the wonderful possibilities and events that could take place there. Please, someone out there get married or have a party or something and get me back.
